NDIS Plan Start-Up Checklist: Your First 14 Days to Action
A practical, step-by-step guide to turn your approved NDIS plan into real supports quickly and confidently.
Days 1–3: Activate Your Plan & Understand Your Funding
The moment you receive your NDIS plan, the clock starts. Your first task is to ensure it's active and understand exactly what you have to work with. Log into the myGov portal or check your NDIS myplace portal to confirm your plan is showing as active. If it's not, contact your NDIA planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
Next, carefully review your plan and note these key details:
- Plan start and end dates: Mark these in your calendar.
- Your NDIS number and participant ID: You'll need to give this to every provider.
- Your funded supports: Look at each support category (like Core, Capacity Building, and Capital). Understand what each budget is for.
- Specialist supports: If your plan includes Supported Independent Living (SIL) or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding, note the specific quotes and any stated requirements.
This foundational step ensures you start from a position of knowledge, whether you are agency-managed, plan-managed, or self-managed.
