Step 1: Start with Your Story, Not a Search Box

Before you look at any provider profiles, start by getting crystal clear on what you need. A focused search saves hours of frustration. We call this your 'Support Story'.

Grab a notepad and answer these questions in plain language:

  • My Main Goals: What do I want to achieve? (e.g., 'Cook my own meals twice a week', 'Travel on the bus independently', 'Have a conversation without getting too anxious').
  • What I Need Help With: List your daily activities and the specific support you require. Be as detailed as you can (e.g., 'Help with showering and dressing in the morning', 'Support to attend my weekly art class', 'Therapy to improve my hand coordination').
  • My Preferences: Do you prefer a support worker of a certain gender? Is it important they speak your language? How do you like to communicate (e.g., text, call, in person)?
  • Safety & Risk: Are there any important health or safety considerations a provider must know?

This one-page 'story' becomes your personal checklist. It moves you from a vague idea ('I need support') to a clear, actionable description that any provider can understand. This clarity is your biggest time-saver.
