Who Can Switch and When is the Right Time?

You have the right to choose who manages your NDIS funding. As a participant or nominee, you can request to change plan managers at any time. There's no need to wait for a plan review or special occasion. However, timing your switch thoughtfully can make the process smoother.

If you're mid-plan, you can absolutely switch. Your new plan manager will take over managing the remaining funds in your current plan. All your existing service bookings and provider agreements remain validβ€”only the financial management changes.

If you're near your plan review (within 4-8 weeks), you might consider waiting until your new plan is approved. This avoids having to update details twice. However, if you're unhappy with your current arrangement, don't delayβ€”you can switch immediately and then update your new plan manager when your next plan is approved.

Remember: You're never locked into a plan management agreement. The NDIS is built on choice and control, and changing how your funds are managed is a core participant right under the NDIS Act 2013.
