Week 1: Discovery & Goal Setting – Laying the Foundation

The first week is all about building understanding. A good support coordinator will start with a comprehensive discovery meeting. This is your opportunity to share your vision, needs, and preferences in detail. You should expect them to ask deep questions about your NDIS plan, your goals, your daily life, and what a good support relationship looks like for you.

You should provide:

  • A copy of your current NDIS plan, especially the ‘Reasonable and Necessary’ supports section.
  • Your thoughts on your short-term and long-term goals.
  • Your communication preferences (e.g., email, phone, time of day).
  • Any existing service providers you're happy with or any you wish to change.

By the end of Week 1, you should have a clear, agreed-upon summary of your immediate priorities and the coordinator’s understanding of your plan’s budget. This sets the stage for effective action.
