The short answer: yes, and it should cost you nothing

If you have ever typed "compare NDIS providers" into a search engine and ended up scrolling past a page of ads, you are not alone. The good news is that free to use tools do exist. You do not need to pay a subscription, a "matching fee" or a lead-generation charge to find and shortlist NDIS providers.

There are two main free places to look:

  • An free NDIS provider directory — such as MyCareFinders. You can search by suburb or region, by the type of support you need (for example core supports, capacity building, allied health or support coordination), and by whether a provider is NDIS registered. It is free for participants and families to use, and it does not rank providers or accept payment to push one above another. You simply get a list to work through at your own pace.
  • The NDIS Provider Register — run by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. This is a compliance list that confirms whether a provider is registered and which registration groups they hold. It is an excellent cross-check, but it is not designed for comparing what providers actually offer day to day.

Used together, they give you a solid, honest picture. The directory helps you find and compare options, and the register confirms the registration details behind each name.

One important point about the word "free". Free means free for you as a participant or family member. A neutral directory is not a recommendation service, and it cannot tell you which provider is "best" — that depends on your goals, your plan and what feels right for you. What it can do is save you hours of searching and help you shortlist three or four providers to contact.

You have choice and control over who delivers your supports. No one should pressure you to stay with a provider, or steer you only towards their own services.
