Plan Management Switch Checklist: Your Step-by-Step Guide
Learn exactly how to change your plan manager immediately and confidently
Can You Switch? Understanding Eligibility & Timing
You have the right to change your plan manager at any time. The NDIS is built on participant choice and control. There are no restrictions on how often you can switch, and you don't need a specific reason.
However, timing is important for a smooth transition:
- Before Your Plan Review: This is the ideal time. Switching early in your plan gives you and your new manager time to settle in before your next review meeting.
- During Your Plan Review: You can request the change as part of your review conversation. Your planner can note it directly in your new plan.
- After Receiving a New Plan: You can switch immediately, even on day one of a new plan. Your new plan manager will start managing the new funds.
Important: Your plan-managed supports are not tied to a specific provider. When you switch plan managers, your existing therapists, support workers, and other providers can continue as normalβthey'll just send invoices to a different payment agent.
The process is straightforward: you notify the NDIS, and they update your myplace portal. The change is usually effective from the start of your next service booking period.
