Getting Started After Plan Approval

Your NDIS journey kicks into gear once you receive your approved plan. The first thing to check is your plan start date. This is the date from which you can start using your funding. Look closely at your plan and the accompanying letter from the NDIA.

Your plan will list your support categories and budgets, like Core Supports, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports. It's crucial you understand which funds are for which types of supports. The letter will also confirm your chosen plan management option – if you selected Agency, Plan, or Self-Managed.

If you chose Plan Management, you can now select a plan manager. There is no waiting period; you can start this process immediately. Your plan manager will need a copy of your plan and the NDIS letter to set you up in their system. This initial setup is vital for everything that follows.

Remember, you cannot claim for supports delivered before your plan start date. Keep all documents in a safe place, as you'll need to refer to them often to ensure supports you book align with your funded categories.
