Step 1: Confirm Your Current Setup & Gather Information

Your first step is to understand your current situation. Log into the myGov portal and access your NDIS myplace participant portal. Under the 'My Plan' section, check your current plan-management status. It will state if you are agency-managed, plan-managed, or self-managed. If you are already plan-managed, note the name of your current plan manager.

Next, you need to know who is currently processing invoices for your supports. Check a recent invoice or payment notification—it will show which organisation paid it. This confirms your active plan manager. Also, review your service agreements with providers to see which plan manager they are instructed to send invoices to. Having this clarity prevents confusion and ensures you notify the correct parties.

Finally, locate your most recent NDIS plan document. You will need key details from it, including your full name, NDIS number, plan start and end dates, and the specific support budget categories (like 'Core - Assistance with Daily Life' or 'Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living'). Having these details on hand speeds up every following step.
