What is Support Coordination? A Quick Refresher

Support coordination is a capacity-building support funded in your NDIS plan. Its primary purpose is to help you, the participant, implement and navigate your plan. Think of your support coordinator as a skilled guide. They help you understand your plan, connect you with the right service providers, negotiate services and pricing, and resolve any issues that arise. They work with you to make your plan work in real life, focusing on building your skills and confidence to direct your own supports over time.

Importantly, support coordination is about coordination, not direct service delivery. Your coordinator won't provide therapy, personal care, or support work themselves. Instead, they help you find, book, and manage the providers who do. Their goal is to ensure all the parts of your plan work together smoothly so you can achieve your goals. Remember, you are always in the driver's seatβ€”your support coordinator is there to help you navigate the map.
