NDIS Plan Review Survival Kit: Prepare Evidence, Update Supports & Protect Funding
Turn review anxiety into a concrete action plan that improves your NDIS outcomes.
Start Early: Your 3-Stage Plan Review Timeline
Waiting for the NDIA's review letter creates last-minute stress. Proactive preparation is key. Your review timeline starts the day your plan begins.
Stage 1: The First 6 Months (Monitor & Log)
This is your evidence-gathering phase. Start a simple support log to track what you're using. Note down any challenges or successes related to your goals. This isn't about daily minutiae; it's about patterns. Is a support working well? Is another not being used? Early signals here prevent surprises later.
Stage 2: 3-6 Months Before Review (Collate & Request)
Formalise your evidence. This is the time to request letters or reports from your therapists and support providers. Be specific. Ask them to comment on your progress towards the goals in your current plan and outline ongoing needs. Use our template to make it easy.
Stage 3: The Final 4-8 Weeks (Prepare & Practise)
Compile your 'evidence pack' and prepare your talking points. Review your budget usage and be ready to explain any underspend (it wasn't needed) or overspend (a new need emerged). Practise explaining your needs in terms of functional impact, which is the language the NDIS understands best.
