Understanding Your NDIS Funding Lines
Your NDIS plan is more than a total budget. It's divided into specific funding lines or categories, each designed to pay for a particular type of support. Knowing what each line covers is the first step to using your budget effectively.
Common categories include:
- Core Supports: For your everyday activities, community participation, and consumables.
- Capacity Building Supports: To build your independence and skills, like therapy or training.
- Capital Supports: For assistive technology (AT) and home modifications.
Each of these has more specific line items. For example, ‘Assistance with Social and Community Participation’ is a different line to ‘Therapeutic Supports’. The NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits guide (often called the ‘NDIS Price Guide’) lists all these items. Before you book a service, check which line item it should be claimed against. This prevents the stress of a provider trying to claim from the wrong part of your budget.
